Soaring crime rates, teen pregnancy, illiteracy — Puerto Rico's schools are underachieving and the social and economic costs are staggering. Consider:
High school dropouts are 3.5 times more likely than graduates to be arrested in their lifetimes.
High school graduates earn $260,000 more than dropouts over their lifetimes.
High school graduates live 9.2 years longer on average than dropouts.
Poor public education affects us all. Sapientis is a non-profit organization that uses its leadership programs to develop a network of people dedicated to bringing change to Puerto Rico's public schools. We need you to help us grow our network. Tell us how public education in Puerto Rico can be improved, contribute to our work or volunteer.
