40% of Puerto Ricans 25 years and older do not have a high school diploma.
18% of children in Puerto Rico live below the poverty level.
40% of students that enroll in University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, that come from public schools, need to take remedial courses.
Unfortunately, this is a difficult reality facing Puerto Rico, and if we continue down this path, the island will fall further behind economically and socially. If this happens, we can expect:
Social problems such as corruption, crime, diseases, poverty and unemployment, to rise resulting in a significant deterioration in our quality of life.
Local enterprises will not have enough highly qualified employees who can excel in today’s labor market, which further destabilize our economy.
International enterprises will continue to skip over Puerto Rico for economic and social investment.
